moving

So. We won't be moving after all. ah well. Saves money, stress of moving, and all the time changing our addresses on everything would take up. So, I guess in a way its a blessing.

Albert finally went to the optometrist today. He had fun getting his eyes dilated...ok not so much...(which reminds me, I was supposed to get mine dilated back in December...oops ah well) and was told that he needed glasses along with his contacts. I really like the frames he picked out...When we get the actual glasses I'll be sure to post pictures. :) So yeah :) Also, he didn't get his eyes "poofed" like when they puff some air in your eye or something...and apparently he's never had it done...is that just a VA optometrist thing?

Anyways, that's us!!! :D

new apartment, new job, new experiences

So, life goes on!! (YAY!!) um...yeah, anyways. So for a bit moving was a "maybe-not-afterall" situation. You see, the lady who owned the houses signed them over to her two brothers (one of whom is the father of the lady who currently manages the places, Diane) and Diane's uncle didn't seem like the kind of guy who would keep a whole house w/ 3 bedrooms and a nice yard at $500 a month...so...we were gonna see if he'd agree to let us sign a 2 year lease and if he did, we'd move and if he didin't we'd stay wehre we are. Long story short, we have signed a 2 year lease for the apartment next door. So, we get to start moving stuff into the new apartment today! The two upstairs bedrooms and kitchen are cleaned out over there so we're gonna start moving things over. we're SO excited. :D Anyway. yeah :) We helped a little with the de-junking of the basement and were amazed at how much random useless stuff Norma (the lady that owned the house) had. But as a result I now have about 6 scenes of red/orange/yellow/white (it fades in and out) yarn. and a bunch of other scenes of other solid colored yarn (reds, greens, yellows, whites, blues). So...that's the news about moving.
So...I got a job promotion and I started working the new job yesterday. And i didn't die...but I also didn't have to answer the phone or call anyone. so yeah :) life is getting better. Excited for school to start next week. :) Hope your lives are also good. :)

Whistle while you work...or while you try to get to work...

So...this week has been quite hectic and we're almost CONVINCED that there was something that really didn't want Albert to go to work.
MONDAY:
There was a Dr. appointment where we happily learned that Albert doesn't need insulin shots!!! (YAY! No needles!!) His blood sugar is continuing to decrease and it's basically normal now. (though he's still really really tired all the time...ah well)
TUESDAY:
Albert dropped me off at my work right before heading up to his. Unfortunately as he was getting on I-15 the car thermostat thing went really high, know this was a really bad thing, Albert went to the place where we always get our car fixed and they said that our car was overheating cuz the thermostat thing wasn't lifting up enough to let all the heat out and the water cooling system wasn't working either and so they fixed both for us. :) so healthy car right? well...we'll see. (Side note: after the car was fixed, I made Albert get his hair cut. :D )
WEDNESDAY:
Albert sat straight up in bed and almost promptly threw up all over the covers...luckily I'd already gotten up and was in the bathroom when this happened. he proceeded to throw up two more times that morning, though he was able to make it to the bathroom for both (YAY!) He continued to feel nauseous and so he didn't go to work because he didn't want to have to throw up there and then drive back and use all the gas...which made sense.
He felt better later in the day and was even able to accompany me on a visit to see my brother, Matt, his wife (Hailey), and their two children (Will and Katie). Albert was asleep most of the time...and I discovered the most wonderful pancakes ever (Hailey made them. they're Korean and they have sugar and cinnamon INSIDE!!!! she says they're better in Korea...so when Albert and I are rich we're going to have to visit Korea) unfortunately Albert isn't really supposed to have them...he had to eat his by proxy through me. (heh heh)
THURSDAY:
We had an appointment with the dietitian. She gave us some more suggestions for lifestyle changes (i.e. more exercise) and gave us a good diet routine and a little clearer picture of what foods Albert can eat (which included some rice!!! (yes he was quite happy))
Later that day we paid 4 months of rent...
FRIDAY:
Like Tuesday, I was going to work at the same time as Albert, only this time the check engine light came on before he dropped me off...so, we headed over to Ray's (the car place) and the guy at the desk said that we might have warped one of our gaskets on Tuesday because the car got so hot and that replacing that would be a $1,600 fix...so, while Albert walked home and chilled out at our house, I went to work and tried to figure out how we would get $1,600...fortunately when they called Albert later, the problem was that the gas cap was broken and so we just had to replace that...$53. (Prayers are answered! I have no doubt in my mind!) Albert's mom was kind enough to drive us over to Ray's when she got off work.

So yeah...kind of crazy week but that's life for you... blessings, trials...and praying for more blessings...

"pictures....your blog needs pictures...."

...at least, that's what I was told today...so...I have to find out how to add pictures to my blog... we'll see how this go since this is my first blog that I've ever been inclined to post pictures on...so yeah. for right now we'll just put some random pictures up.

so..whenever we babysit my niece Brooklyn, she almost ALWAYS goes after the mouse Albert uses on his laptop...it's like a magnet.

Once upon a time I turned 20 and several things happened:
Laura came and dwelt in my tub while I attempted to curl my hair,

Andrea and Brooklyn came and wished me a happy birthday and brought me some lollipops whose age is still in question.

And then in the evening, we had dinner at Toucanos with Albert's family. :)
(left to right: Uncle Mark, Aunt Sonia, Kathy (Mark and Sonia's daughter), Kimmi (Albert's 2nd younger sister), me, Albert, Sammi (the 3rd sister), Albert's mom, Melissa (the youngest of Albert's sisters), and I'll include Albert's dad even though he is not featured here cuz I know he was there in spirit)

Anyway...yeah...that was all mostly for Andrea's sake cuz she was commenting about how I didn't have any pictures posted yet.
So, an update on Albert. We found out that he has type 1 diabetes. Which is not entirely a terrible thing, because we know that Albert didn't cause himself to have diabetes, because type 1 is hereditary. But so far he's doing a bunch better than he was...which we're happy about.
So yeah, that's the story. We're happy, excited to live life and continue learning.
Love you all!

Today our lives changed.

About two weeks ago, Albert went to work. An hour after he got there, he threw up...three times. He came home. Since then he'd been drinking 2-3 gallons of water a day and going to the bathroom a lot (getting up 3-4 times during the night). Saturday the 24th we went over to Albert's parent's house and he talked to his mom (who was a nurse) about what was going on, and she told him that his biological dad (who is still in Peru), his grandmother (on his dad's side) and his grandma's grandpa all had diabetes. She suggested that we went to the doctor and talk to them about it.
On our way home we called my aunt, Mary Ann, and she also said that it sounded like Albert had diabetes and said we should get an appointment on Monday.
Today we went into the BYU Health Center. We went in around 9, but there wasn't an open appointment until 11, but we were willing to wait...well, as long as we could play solitaire. When we were seen, Albert was sent to get a urine test and a blood sample (he'd gone in fasting). We knew something was really wrong when we handed the nurse at the back counter the test results and her face kind of fell and she said "oh" in a voice that says "that's not very good."
Turns out Albert does have diabetes. His blood sugar was 320 when blood sugar is supposed to be like 100ish...so yeah...not good. We aren't sure if it's type 1 or 2 yet...we find out Wednesday...it all depends on how Albert's body responds to the pills he was given. So...yeah...we're hoping for type 2 cuz then we can get rid of it...though we would understand if it is God's will for Albert to have type 1.
One good result of this, is that we'll definitely be eating more healthy (though Albert is not allowed to eat rice anymore...which is going to kill him)...and we'll be getting more exercise which will hopefully result in weight loss for both of us (yes, I'm going to try to go along with Albert's new diet...though I'll for sure be "sneaking" random "banned" items while Albert is at work....which he knows). So that's how our lives changed today...please keep us in your prayers.

This is our life...well, sort of.

So...we've been told many times that we need to get a blog...and so this is our blog...

A little bit about ourselves:
-We were married on the 22nd of December 2009.
-Albert wants to be a heart surgeon.
-I want to be a librarian at an elementary school.
-For the fall Albert will be working part time at the job he currently is working full time at and in the winter he hopes to be a Chem 105 TA. :)
-I am currently a page at the Provo City Public Library, but I am being promoted to a clerk at the circulation desk in August. :)
-Albert is originally from Peru and is still an official Peruvian citizen (yes he is still a legal resident in the US)
-sometimes I still miss VA, but it's nice being so close to Ange, Thad, Brooklyn, Ben and Eric....not to mention Albert's family (who live only about 20 minutes away).
-We love life, playing games, the church, and our families.

:)
